Are you a high school student? Are you considering the next steps in your journey whether it's college or starting your career right away? Whichever you decide is what you think is best for you and no one else.
College is a big decision, but the value of the education and experience you can gain from it can be so helpful to you and becoming who you are! I know my years in college were so valuable to me in growing my experience and becoming more confident in who I am as a horsewoman and as a person.
I do realize that college may not be for everyone, but I

personally think it is something everyone should seriously consider or at least give it a try! On today's episode, I am talking with a lady who has such a passion for sharing just that and providing students the best opportunities possible to get the education and hands-on experience they need to help propel them into their careers and become the next great leaders in the horse industry!

Getting to know her and Lamar Community College
Savanna Mauch is one of the amazing equine instructors at Lamar Community College. She grew up a crazy horse girl showing in 4-H and County Fairs in Minnesota. After graduating from South Dakota State with her Masters is when she made the move to Colorado six years ago. She joined a program that started in the 1970s and has helped it grow in the amazing opportunities it gives the students at Lamar.
Lamar offers two unique programs in the equine department. That offer students a chance to get hands on experience in many aspects of the industry from breeding, rehab, training, and more. Savanna believes that college gives students an opportunity to learn and make mistakes that they can learn from. So when they go into the real world in their careers they will be better equipped to do the job well.
AQHLearn Course

Savanna say a need for high school students to have more knowledge of the college opportunities available to them in the horse industry so she partnered with AQHLearn to develop an affordable course that will explain to high school kids what value college can give them whether it's at a four year university, community college, or other post secondary institutions.
Benefits to you
I believe this episode is coming out at the right time of year as a semester is ending and students are either starting to think about or looking into their options after graduation. As I mentioned, college can be so helpful for young generations who don't know what they want to do and need time to figure it out for themselves. A good school will give you the education and hands-on experience you need to be successful in any job you go into in the equine industry!
