Being an Equestrian may be a physical sport, but in my opinion the mental game is just as important. Especially when it comes to competition and doing our best. At times we can sometimes let our thoughts and what others think get the better of us which can cause us to doubt ourselves and question whether we deserve to be at the show at all.
This is called "Imposter Syndrome" and I believe we don't talk about this enough in the equine industry

because as much as we want to think we can just work harder and push through these feelings, our brain has a way of protecting us from things that scare us or intimidate us. Which for anyone who has gone to their first world show, rodeo, or whichever knows how scary that can be and it can shrink our confidence. Trust me I have been riding and showing for several years and I have had several times when I have felt my confidence be less than 100%.

Which is why I knew an episode on this topic was so important to share with you and I knew I needed to right people to ask onto the show to have this conversation with and boy did I pick them! Lauren and Ellie from Elevate your ride, you may remember them from season 1 of the podcast and from their own podcast, but in this episode they really brought so much insight into imposter syndrome for equestrians with some amazing tips and advice that were so amazing from both the fitness and mindset perspective! From doing what you need to do to prepare for the show in the gym to looking deeper within yourself to understand why you are feeling this way!

I had so much fun talking with these ladies again and I took so much away from our conversation that I can take into my own goals. I hope you find the same value in this episode that will help you with whatever feelings of fraud you might be going through and you are going to want to save this episode to listen to over and over again!
